Campus Ministry

Since 1966, the FCA Ministry has been present on campuses all across the country. The Campus Ministry is initiated and led by student-athletes and coaches on junior high, high school and college campuses.

The purpose of Campus Ministry, through various types, has been to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost and to seek to grow and mature a follower of Jesus Christ. The “win” of Campus Ministry is to see campuses impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.

What is a Huddle Coach?

A Huddle Coach is a coach, faculty member or volunteer who feels led to assist the student leaders in organizing and carrying out the FCA programs and activities on the campus. A Huddle Coach will fill many roles, but the most important quality in the Huddle Coach is their commitment to seeing lives of student-athletes change through Jesus Christ.

To get involved as an adult with FCA as a Huddle Coach, you can complete the MLA (Ministry Leader Application) at the following location:

Who can participate?

While athletes and coaches are the target, the FCA Campus Ministry does not place those requirements on the partcipants. The framework and materials provided focus on the common ground of athletics, but as the athletes grow in their faith, those athletes may desire to reach out to the entire student body.

From Cougs to Patriots!

On April 11, Central Oregon FCA had the privilege of facilitating a rally at Mountain View High for 2 of that schools distinguished Alumni. Twin Brothers Cody and Jacob Hollister, 2012 grads of MVHS are living out their athletic dreams as they are now both playing professional football in the NFL as members of the New England Patriots. Fresh off their rookie season and a trip to the Super Bowl, they returned home this off season with a desire to share about their journey and how God has moved in and through their lives. Combined with Journey church’s praise and worship team, we experienced and evening of giving glory to God as we worshiped Him together with around 500 Central Oregonians in MVHS gym. As Cody shared, the Holy Spirit moved amongst us in a powerful way; 26 young people contacted FCA staff and communicated that they had made a decision for Jesus and more than three times that many indicated by a raise of their hands that God was working on their hearts. Glory be to God, it was amazing to experience.

New Huddle Ideas

As FCA staff we are always looking for new ways to serve and minister to coaches and athletes. We try to think outside the box and are currently looking for ideas directed towards ministering to those participating in what some might call “non traditional” school sports and activities. Things like rodeo, equestrian, skiing, skateboarding, outdoors (hunting fishing, shooting) and many more. If you have an idea for how we can serve in these or any others arenas you think of, please contact your local FCA rep. In Redmond contact Mike Elam at melam@fca.org, in Bend contact Wendi Rawlins at wrawlins@fca.org and anywhere else in Central and Eastern Oregon contact Area Director Randy Hutchins at randyhutchins@fca.org.

FIELDS OF FAITH

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2018

What is Fields of Faith?

Fields of Faith is a student led event.  Students invite, pray for, share with, and challenge their peers to read the Bible and follow Jesus Christ.  An athletic field provides a neutral, rally point where a community can come together.

Why Fields of Faith?

You Can Help Change Our Culture.

It’s time to spark a spiritual movement for God. Christianity needs a change in momentum—students who will stand together against the pressures and temptations in our world and be a generation that is committed to reading the Bible and applying it to their lives.

It’s time to Get in the Game and Get in the Book!
